2025 Annual TAMFT ConferenceShaping the Future: Advancing Relationships Through Systemic Advocacy
This year’s conference is dedicated to grounding Texas MFTs and friends of the field in systemic theory and practice. Our workshops and keynote speakers will be intentionally curated to invigorate and challenge the unique minds of systemic thinkers.
This annual conference, coupled with the ongoing tradition of Day at the Dome, will allow TAMFT members to connect with local legislators and advocate for bills and policies that directly impact the mental health of families and the systems we serve.

Have you ever had the nagging sense that many family therapy theories sound alike? In this workshop, you will learn how right you are! The Therapy that Works Unifying Framework is a comprehensive framework that synthesizes the theoretical and research knowledge base of the field. This framework is not a theory that explains how problems develop. Instead, it is a system for doing that provides a clear roadmap for how to do therapy well. The system involves six components:
1. Self-of-the-therapist: Cultivating personal wellness and reflective states of mind
2. Collaborative connecting: Entering the client’s meaning-making system without bias
3. Transtheoretical conceptualization of the problem: Assessing the behavioral, emotional, cognitive/Identity, and societal levels
4. Evidence-informed treatment planning: Using the evidence-base to inform treatment options
5. Evidence-informed intervention: Identifying interventions that align with client needs and preferences
6. Transtheoretical conceptualization of solutions and wellness: Assessment of “what works” and fostering whole-person wellness
